Too Excited to Stick Around . . .

We were scheduled to leave on a Monday, but we got the coach back early from getting some minor repairs.  We packed in record time and left on the Friday before.  The first night we camped in the middle of an orange orchard in Bakersfield.  We could pick oranges right off the trees.

We then continued on to Lake Havasu City Arizona (home of the London Bridge) to visit our friends Sonny and Corky.   Lake Havasu had some pretty good restaurants and we sampled several!

Image 4The first night we fell asleep to an amazing lightning storm over the mountains… it was better than TV, for sure.

Image 3We camped at Crazy Horse RV Park, right on the lake.  There was a covered gazebo in front of our site so we were able to set up chairs and take advantage of the nice (warm) breeze and float in the lake while boat and people watching. It was nice to have some sort of wind because the temperature average was 106 degrees while we were there.

Image 1Sonny and Corky took us out on their boat the next day.  We found a small beach on the lake and had an afternoon floating in the water and enjoying a good time catching up.

Sonny gave us a really good idea of how to insulate the back bathroom floor, closet and under the sink from the engine heat, since the cats now travel in the bathroom/bedroom with the door closed to the front of the coach. They aren’t allowed to roam freely while we are on the road because they tend to crawl up under the dash while we are driving.

Image 6The cats seem to be adjusting ok to traveling and living in the coach.  Thank you to Sonny and Corky for your hospitality and showing us your new town.

In Vegas, we camped at a KOA at Circus Circus that has pull through sites, a nice store, game room and a pool. We ate at our favorite restaurant, Joe’s Seafood, for their stone crab claws and roasted corn side dish.  Image 8Then we saw Peepshow with CoCo Austin, from “Ice Loves CoCo”.  We saw her entering the theatre with her sister and dogs, but Sallie was too chicken to say hello (1st regret of the trip).  It was a very tasteful and fun Burlesque show.

This was the first trip to Vegas where we didn’t gamble, so I guess you’d say we made money on this trip.

Next time we’ll tell you all about our time at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Monument Valley.
