The Homestretch…

We returned to the good ole United States on September 23rd. Sallie wanted to stay in Mystic, Connecticut to eat at  Mystic Pizza, (the same place as the movie title from the 80’s that she liked) and yes, the pizza was great. We met up with friends for lobster lunch with Rit, Judy (and Jenne), Joan and Jerry.  We ate more seafood on this trip than we had in our whole lives combined. Cod, haddock, salmon, scallops, mussels, clams, snow crab, lobster, shrimp… all quite yummy!

While in Mystic, some not so fun events happened. Sue had some fainting spells that landed her in the hospital cardiac unit for 48 hours of testing. Gratefully, she was discharged with a clean bill of health. We figured, possibly between dehydration, low blood pressure and early stages of an urinary infection, this may have caused her weakness and fainting spells. Throughout all of this, she somehow broke 3 metatarsal necks in her left foot resulting in her having to wear a boot for 6 weeks.

Then, good old Hurricane Irma threatened our Florida home and we were stuck in Connecticut until she passed over and we could safely return southward. We were so fortunate, the eye missed our area… 100 mph winds did knock down a lot of trees however!

On our way down South we returned to Cherry Hill RV Park in Maryland and happened to run across our friends Anna and Armando at the RV park and some funny looking characters in a Target store. Since Sue was newly in a boot we opted to forego a DC excursion and just stuck close to the coach to let her heal.

Back to Florida… our favorite place on the Emerald Coast! We enjoyed staying at Camp Gulf right on the beautiful beach.  Sue couldn’t let a silly old foot injury from letting her get to the water though… we ended up finding a thrift store boot for her to trash in the sand.

Until next time, we will be signing off for now!
