The town of Jackson Wyoming was a quaint old cowboy town south of the Grand Tetons. It is now a shopping hub for all the tourists visiting Grand Teton National Park.
The Grand Tetons are unbelievable! We stopped at Jenny Lake, which is at the base of the Teton Range and went on a short scenic boat ride. It was short, and lasted less than 5 minutes because a storm moved in rather quickly.
We continued further north to Jackson Lake Lodge where we had lunch outside, enjoying once again, more views of the Grand Tetons.
Near our RV park was the Teton Village where Sallie learned how to ski when she was a youngster. This resort caters to skiers in the winter and biking and hiking in the summer time. It is also the home to the Grand Teton Music Festival. We enjoyed a chamber music concert while we were there.
We hiked a rather strenuous trail called Death Canyon, which started off as an easy/moderate uphill to the Phelps Lake lookout, about a mile in, where there are excellent views of the lake. The trail then dips down to the lake which proved to be a killer for Sue on the return trip (turned out to be dehydration).
Right around the corner from our RV park, we came across a male moose on the side of the road eating. This was the first male we have seen in any of our travels and we were so excited!
