After camping out in front of our house for 5 days and getting our 3 indoor only cats (our OHANA – family) accustomed to their new home (OUR HALE), we took our RV on the road to Bodega Bay and Point Reyes for our first trip. The cats (Harley, Silly & Graybee: 2 girls & a boy) rode in their individual kennels and cried the whole way. The journey there was uneventful except for one wrong turn when entering the RV Park at Porto Bodega. Learning as we go, we pulled over, disconnected the Honda Pilot (tow car or dinghy as RV’ers call them) since reverse is not an option, to enable us to make a U-turn.
The cats enjoyed watching the seagulls, people walking their dogs and finding new hiding places in the RV, which lessened our anxiety about them traveling with us.
We enjoyed the coast so much, we extended our stay and headed south a bit and camped at Point Reyes. We had our fill of bbq’d oysters, delicious clam chowder, awesome brie from the Cow Girl Creamery and fresh baked sourdough bread.
Friends and family visited us and we were able to enjoy a couple of days at the beach and a bonfire with smores, of course!
