Kelowna, Kamloops and the Kanadian Rockies

We made it to the beautiful Okanagan Valley and stayed at the Holiday Park Resort, a different kind of park that had timeshare condo’s, apartments, live in RV sites with individual gardens and camper RV spots on Duck Lake. They had pools, jacuzzi’s, a 3 par golf course, canoe and kayak rentals, general store and even a fancy Italian Restaurant on the property. We had a lot of fun and activity in Kelowna. We shopped at the local farmer’s market, and spent time on the waterfront. They had a street hockey tournament going on in the downtown area. We learned Canada LOVES their hockey, any way they can get it. We went to the top of Knox Mountain where you can see the entire valley, river and lake. We didn’t see Opogopogo, the mysterious lake creature in Kelowna lake though. It’s kind of Canada’s version of the Loc Ness Monster.

We spent some time at the Lavender Farm, which was very fragrant and peaceful. Our big adventure was a 26km bike ride over 17 old railroad trestles of the Myra Canyon Railroad Line. It was challenging, but amazing to travel over the trestles, see the valley views and test ourselves after not being on bikes since we were kids.

Our next stop was Kamloops, a town we had been to on our last trip. We went back to the Harley Davidson dealer to look around, spent some time downtown revisiting the casino/hotel we stayed at before and had a lovely dinner in town. The next day we hiked to the top of one of the surrounding mountains looking over the river and downtown area. Our last day we went to the Kamloops Wildlife Park. We were sad to see the animals behind bars, but they were all rescued and very well taken care of.

We then headed up the Rocky Mountain road and spent the night in Valemont surrounded by snow capped mountains. We had a really lovely dinner in town and ate some tasty pastries from the Swiss Bakery. We were lucky to have this RV park practically all to ourselves.

The cats are starting to really relax and enjoy their new home.

Next stop, Jasper National Park in Alberta Canada…
