The first week of November we took a side trip from the RV in Miami to celebrate Sue’s birthday in the Bahamas. We went to one of our favorite resorts, the Atlantis. We stayed in the Royal Towers overlooking the dolphin and sea lion cay, cruise ship harbor and city views of Nassau. We spent our days traversing the mile long lazy river with the 3 foot wave that sends you “riding the wave” for almost a quarter of a mile. We love the layout of the resort pools, casino and shopping areas. The blown glass artist Chihuly has several amazing pieces in the casino. “The Dig” is the resorts underwater display of the sunken city Atlantis and has eel, lobster, jellyfish, piranha tanks and a large main display of many other sea creatures. We are partial to the cool eel tank. The Atlantis is also known for the worlds largest open air aquarium loaded with predator and community fish, just like the ocean. We could stare at the animals all day long. Sallie made a friend with one of the resident Groupers, so handsome he was.
Sue’s special day was filled with balloons, cards, well wishes, a great dinner with molten cake and even a complimentary ceramic dolphin to paint at the Earth and Fire Paint your own Ceramic studio.
All in all the week was a blast and one to be remembered!
