Sallie’s best friend from high school, Ruth, joined us at Lake Powell for an amazing weekend. Luckily, she was a trooper and endured massive airline delays and cancellations and a 2 1/2 hour car drive to get to us, and all this after only a week out of shoulder surgery. We were so happy she made it and what a great time it was! The sunrise our first morning together was magnificent and glorious. We visited the Glen Canyon Dam at Lake Powell and made a new roadrunner friend at the pool at the Lake Powell Resort in Wahweap.
The next day, we took a 50 mile boat trip to Rainbow Bridge, the largest natural bridge in the world, seeing beautiful formations along the lake. We had to hike in a mile and a quarter to get to the bridge since the water level was so low. This trip was one of those on Sue’s bucket list and it was definitely amazing to see!
A treat for the 3 of us was renting a 44″ pontoon party boat and cruising around the lake at our leisure. Sue and Ruth tried some fishing while Sallie piloted the boat (notice WHO is wearing the Captain’s hat). Sallie was the only brave one to go off the slide too. We had a very relaxing time on the boat, barbecuing lunch and being in the warm 79 degree water.
After Ruth left for home, we went on a search for the local’s favorite, Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon. It is the longest and deepest slot canyon in the southwest United States and may be the longest in the world. We hiked to it off the Wire Pass Trailhead. This is near the famous “Wave” slot canyon. It was awesome to be in a canyon that was so small and narrow, then opened up to a big rain wash that was responsible for this formation. We felt as lucky to walk this as if we had “won the lottery” to walk the “Wave”. Check out the video as we walked through one of the slots.
Every night we were treated to beautiful sunsets from our RV park. The last hike we did was to the famous Colorado Rivers’ Horseshoe Bend.
Wow these sunsets are amazing. Love the slot video!
Got home and tried to download my photos to my computer.
Low and behold the camera could not be found. Went back to where it was purchased and they told me it was defective.
Have no idea what quality it means for my photos.
Sue’s luck with Best Buy did not work out for me they just ordered another of the same camera. Even questioned the price of the 5Ti put no go.
Will wait and see.
Keep in touch
Hi.. So sorry to hear about your camera. Did you remove the SD card and there are no pics on it? Hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation. Take care…
